Penn State v Temple History
Penn State coach Joe Paterno is an amazing 26-0 against Temple. Penn State has not lost in 35 games in this series since 1941, though the teams did play to a 7-7 tie in 1950.
This will be the 41sth meeting between the Nittany Lions and Temple Owls, in a series that started in 1931. Temple has not beaten Penn State since a 14-0 victory on Oct. 18, 1941. The teams tied 7-7 in 1950.
Though this game still doesn’t strike fear in the hearts of Penn State fans, this game is tougher now than it was in 2006, Al Golden’s first year as Temple’s coach. Before Golden arrived in Philadelphia, the Owls were 3-31, and Golden didn’t fare much better his first season, going 1-11. The Owls have improved each year since, culminating with an appearance in the EagleBank Bowl against UCLA in 2009.
