Joe Paterno has named freshman Robert Bolden the starter for the Nittany Lions’ opener Saturday against Youngstown State. It will be the first time that Penn State has ever opened the season with a true freshman as it’s starting quarterback.
“Based on what we have seen to this point, Bolden has a slight edge right now, but we are confident all three quarterbacks are ready to go and hope to give them an opportunity to play until we settle on the one that gives us the best chance to win,” Paterno said Wednesday
Because of this decision, I would expect that Paul Jones will now redshirt this season.
