Big Ten Announces Realignment

by David on September 1, 2010

The Big Ten has finally announced the composition of it’s two divisions once Nebraska joins the conference next year.

In a major surprise the Big Ten has split Ohio State and Michigan and put them in separate divisions. I thought that Penn State and Nebraska would be in one division and OSU and Michigan in another, but that is not what they decided.

Big 10 Divisions
Division 1
Iowa
Michigan State
Michigan
Minnesota
Nebraska
Northwestern

Division 2
Illinois
Indiana
Ohio State
Penn State
Purdue
Wisconsin

The winners of the Big Ten’s divisions will play in the inaugural league title game Dec. 3, 2011, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Each school will have eight conference games. Each will play the other five schools within its division and also will take on three teams from the other division, including what is called a cross-division matchup.

Those cross-division matchups, which will be played each year are: Ohio State- Michigan, Illinois-Northwestern, Indiana-Michigan State, Nebraska-Penn State, Iowa-Purdue and Minnesota-Wisconsin.

What do you think Penn State fans? Do you like the division that Penn State is in?
